As I welcome you to my new space here on Substack, I offer you an insight into my story so far and what the journey as a male victim of domestic abuse looks like as a feminist ally.
Hi David. I have followed your story for some time but much of this was new to me. You have a powerful and original voice; please continue to speak up for everyone affected by coercive control. I so wish more men would do so, as, right or wrong, men listen to and believe other men far more readily than they do women. Upsetting, but true. Please tell them what it's like. Sending you respect and thanks.
I knew the end part of your story but not the start and middle. You are a very brave man David! Hope you are doing ok and that sally is also doing ok!thank you for sharing and all the work you continue to do. Take care of yourself
Thank you for your work and dedication David. Having spent over half a century working to try to protect women from male violence I'm glad to see others carrying on this work. I remember publishing some writing by Anne Flitcraft and Evan Stark back in the 1970's in a book i wrote on setting up shelters and combating male violence.

Hi David. I was pleased when I saw you are now on Substack. I am too! Substack gives me a place where I can get my thoughts down and share them. I am sure it will benefit you as it does me. Hope you are well David. Sharon xx
Glad you're here David. I am a survivor of domestic abuse and coercive control and welcome you to the fight. I feel a huge amount of support for your mother and fear I could have been in the same position as she had I not left my now ex-husband and - importantly - gone to a different country.
